A postcard of Bahia Housed in the Fort of Santo Antonio da Barra, the oldest military construction in Brazil, whose construction dates from 1534, the Nautical Museum of Bahia is unique of its kind in the entire state, gathering valuable collection of archaeological finds submarines, a collection of navigational instruments and signaling boating, models, miniatures of boats of varying origin and a permanent exhibition on the geography, history, anthropology and culture of the Bay of All Saints, in addition to marine life, military and administrative city of Salvador, capital of the country and the first its most important city for more than three centuries. Built before the city of Salvador itself, which is 1549, the Forte de Santo Antonio da Barra is a fine example of military architecture of sixteenth-century Portuguese. Forte is in the Farol da Barra, one of the most popular cards of Bahia in the world. The original lighthouse was installed at the fort in the year 1698, the first of all America. Whale oil lamps fed protected by glass that signaled for sailors entering the bay.
