One of the many landmarks dotted around the Praça Dom Pedro II, the Palacio Antonio Lemos is where you will find the Museu de Arte de Belem - MABE, which enjoys high visitors number and houses an impressive collection of Brazilian paintings from the 20th century, such as the famous oil painting entitled 'Seringal' by renowned Rio artist Cândido PortInari. The palace itself was once used as the city hall, between the years of 1860 and 1883, and was built during the early part of the affluent 'rubber-boom' period.
