Santa Felicidade

Santa Felicidade is a neighborhood where some of the very first Italian immigrants arrived in Paraná. Much of the culture has been preserved here by the Italian immigrants that arrived in the 1800's. Originally the Italians were dedicated to the production of cheese, wine and farming or horticulture.

 

The Saint Josephe Church was built in 1891, followed be the first school and it still posses some of the original buildings, including Casa Culpi, Casa dos Arcos, Casa dos Gerânios and Casa das Pinturas.

 

The neighborhood includes about 30 restaurants, vineyards, wine cellars, craft shops and several rattan wicker furniture, which is one of the industries that the Italians originally practiced.

 

The area around 7km from the city center and a wonderful place to spend the day, walking up and down the streets, visiting old areas and eating at authentic Italian restaurants.

 

Within only a few km of this neighbourhood you will find many other attractions to visit as well.  Including several parks, such as Barigui Parque and Bosque Gutierrez which travellers find very relaxing.  If you're still in the mood for a bit more sightseeing, there are several squares, fountains and threatres near by which are all popular with tourists, including the Fonte de Jerusalem, the Paiol Theatre, and Mercês Tower, which offers a great 360 degree view of the city.
